So I was looking around trying to figure this out and decided to try something. I went into my tmp folder and deleted all the session files in there then I tried to log in again. And the same thing took place. So then I went and checked for the session file and guess what... No file was created.
So then I contacted support at HostGator and this is what was said and found on this round....
Jeff S.: Welcome to HostGator, how may I assist you?
Larry: Please see ticket JBP-xxxxxxx. I have been attempting to get this issue resolved and after not really getting any place I started looking into this myself and have found what may be the cause...
Jeff S.: Let me look at it what do you think is the problem?
Larry: I cleared out all my session files in the tmp folder and then attempted to log into OSTicket again and it did the same thing... It let me log in but then when I attempted to do anything it took me right back to the login screen. So then I went to check the session file it created in the tmp folder only one problem... There was no file created.
Larry: So its not wonder its taking me back to the login screen.
Larry: I wanted to ask somebody live on this though anyway to make sure you see what I am saying about it not even being able to create a session file....
Larry: Of course its going to take me back to the login screen when there is no session file
Jeff S.: Sure I can look
Larry: http://voxxxxxexxxxxxxxx.com/xxxxxxxDxxxxxxxrt/scp(http://voxxxxxexxxxxxxxx.com/xxxxxxxDxxxxxxxrt/scp)
Larry: User name: xxxxxxxx Password: xxxxxx
Larry: It will log in but the second you try to do anything it takes you right back to the login.
Jeff S.: Im not sure at all
Jeff S.: you are using winscp
Larry: It would have to have a session file...
Larry: See and the odd thing is this does not happen all the time. It may go 3 days like this then all of the sudden it works. Then it stops again.
Larry: It has to have something to do with the hosting. If it was scripting it would not be hit and miss like that.
Larry: Like right now... When I try to login its not recording a session file so it bounces me back out.
Larry: Its as if that dir is not allways writable or something
Jeff S.: Im not able to tell why that would happen
Larry: But are you seeing what I am saying....
Jeff S.: yes
Larry: Try to login... Then try to do something... Then check the tmp folder.
Larry: There will be no session
Jeff S.: i have alerted an admin that will look at as soon as we can
Larry: I wish there was a way to speak to them on here.... that ticket thing is good but not in these cases.... real time chat is whats needed to explaine this right.
Jeff S.: well unfortunately they only have time to answer emails.. They will update it as soon as they can
Larry: This effects my customers... I have two tickets in there now that I can not open because I can't get in :-(
Jeff S.: I cant see it being anything on the server end
Larry: The thing is if it were code it would not be random like it is now.
Larry: It would be one way or another.
Jeff S.: sure it could be
Jeff S.: it is more likely to be the script if it is random than it is the server
Larry: Then how can you explaine the fact that it runs fine for about 90% of the people who use it. It seems to be a issue with some select hosts. Thats the part myself and others are trying to figure out.
Jeff S.: im not seeing a php.ini
Jeff S.: public_html / VooDooSupport / (
Jeff S.: there
Larry: I don't think it uses one...
Jeff S.: # diff php.ini php.ini-orig
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: 938d937
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: < session.save_path = "/tmp"
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: 950c949
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: < session.name = PHPSESSID
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: ---
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: > session.name = local.PHPSESSID
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.:
Jeff S.: It does not seem like its writting anything in there....
Jeff S.: not sure man the support for the script blames us we blame them back and fourth thing?
Larry: Exactly! Everybody is pointing the fingure at each other, lol. Drives me nuts.
Larry: Ok well thank you for looking.
Larry: Can you add what you told me to the ticket?
Larry: So the admins see that at least.
So can anyone make anything of what he said on this?
