SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection times out

Hi,

I try to setup SMTP Mail for my osTicket System for outgoing Alerts.

It doesn't matter which configuration I will use, it's always the error SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection times out.

My Configuration for now is:

SMTP Host: smtp.1und1.de
SMTP Port: 25
Auth Req: Yes

Credentials are correct, testet them multiple times. Even if I try to use SSL SMTP it's not working with port 465 or 587.

Do I need to setup any other configuration before? Edit a file?

EDIT:
Environment:
Webhost by "1und1", with php 5.4, mysql 5.1 and domain

osTicket Version 1.7 and 1.8 both not working.

The E-Mail Adress is from 1und1 as well.

Thanks for Help.

  • I have the exact same problem.

Also tested with 1.7.4 to 1.8.0 / 1.8.0.1 and always the same outcome. Seems the 1&1 mail server needs something ost doesn't give. Credentials are valid and working on other connections (e.g. outlook, thunderbird, etc.).
Receiving is possible for POP and IMAP but unfortunately the smtp does not get connected. Not with SSL nor without.

    Anyone got an idea?
Logs are sadly not available due to hosting limitations. Apache webserver running with with php 5.4 and mysql 5.1.
  • Found the solution: smtp.1und1.de is the wrong server - see here.
