Another installation with same table prefix exists! during install

Hello All..  Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue.  I have successfully uploaded into an install directory, chmod'ed ost-config.php and ran the install script by going to ; I get the setup wizard and am able to enter in all of the information, but I keep getting the error:

We have a problem - another installation with same table prefix exists!

I have verified that before running the installer, the MySQL database was completely empty, and immediately after I get this error, I check the SQL DB again and it is populated with records that have the correct prefix of OST_ so at some point during the install, the install script seems to be checking the prefix structure of the database AFTER it creates the tables and then errors out.  I have removed everything and started over, and have started with multiple fresh copies of the database.

Any thoughts?   Thanks!


  • was just released, please try that with a blank database.
  • I have exactly the same problem with release.  Start with clean database, after I filled the
    requested data on installer page, click continue button, I got same error "
    We have a problem - another installation with same table prefix exists!"
    but it created tables in the database. For a test, I gave a different prefix and click continue button again
    got the same error and another set of tables with new prefix are created.
    I am using Mysql 5.0.95 and php-5.3.28.

    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    Use a different prefix?
