Time is not correct in osTicket

Located in Jacksonville, Florida - using setting for Daylight Savings time checked, using "GMT -5.0 Eastern Time (US and Canada) Bogota, Lima", checked server is only few minutes off, but osTicket shows 3 hours difference, is there a setting I am missing

  • Version of osTicket?

    You should check the following:
    • php.ini time.date setting.
    • Profile -> Preferences -> Time Zone setting.
    • Admin panel -> Settings -> Default Time Zone setting.
  • Version: v1.9.3 (bba9ccc), Server: Apache/2.4.6 (CentOS) PHP/5.4.16, Version PHP 5.4.16, My SQL Version 5.5.44

I checked the settings in My Profile, set to (GMT -5.0 - Eastern Time (US & Canada), Bogota, Lima), checking the Daylight Saving Time show at the end the (Current Time: 05/04/2106 10:37 AM) which is exactly 1 hour back from current time in the Windows O.S. on the local system.

I opened the Admin Panel, checked Settings > System > Time format shows at this time 3:40 pm, exactly 5 hours ahead of current time, and Day, Date, Time format shows Wed, May 4 2016, 3:40 pm, the same 5 hours difference.

Seems to be the Time Zone setting, which should be showing the Time in osTicket 5 hours less, the -5.0 from the selection is not making that adjustment but instead adding it.

Where do you check the php.ini setting you mentioned, is this on the Server that contains the application?

Thank you so much for your help
  • > Version: v1.9.3
^ this is really old.  You should upgrade.

    >> I opened the Admin Panel, checked Settings > System > Time format
shows at this time 3:40 pm, exactly 5 hours ahead of current time, and
Day, Date, Time format shows Wed, May 4 2016, 3:40 pm, the same 5 hours
    difference.
^This is not relevant.  This is for display format purposes only and does not reflect actual time.

Q: Where do you check the php.ini setting you mentioned, is this on the Server that contains the application?
A: where ever your webservers php.ini is located.
  • Is the time wrong in tickets? It shows 5 hours ahead for me (Clearwater, FL) in the System>Time Format area, but on tickets the time is correct (as in, a ticket updated a few min ago, shows the updated time of a few min ago).
