Disable search auto-complete pulldown

Please forgive my ignorance but I do not know what this feature is called.   If someone knows the correct name please post so I can fix the subject.  Hopefully this will help others.

If you start to type something into the search box in OSTicket it creates a pull-down list of options.  Is there a way to disable this functionality so the search box is a simple search box?   Many times I am trying to search for a keyword in a ticket  and I end up searching for someone else's email address.

  • I'm not aware of a way to disable this.
  • I figured this out so I am going to post it here for others..

    backup the file:
    cp include/staff/  /tmp/

    edit the file:
    nano include/staff/

    around line 419 (on my version of the file) there is the following:

    <div class="attached input">
          <input type="text" class="basic-search" data-url="ajax.php/tickets/lookup" name="query"
            autofocus size="30" value="<?php echo Format::htmlchars($_REQUEST['query'], true); ?>"
            autocomplete="off" autocorrect="off" autocapitalize="off">
          <button type="submit" class="attached button"><i class="icon-search"></i>

    Removing the following section of text returned the search box to a standard search box without auto complete:

    data-url="ajax.php/tickets/lookup" name="query"
