osTicket v1.10 (stable) and Maintenance Release v1.9.15 are now available! Go get it now

Install osTicket into root directory instead of subfolder?

The installation instructions clearly state to create a subfolder and install osTicket into it.

But I have a customer who has installed it into his root directory.

Everything appears to be working, but he's just starting out.

I'm wondering whether or not this could affect some aspects of the system?

Does he need to at least configure is ROOT PATH in ost-config.php?

  • You can install osTicket where ever you want to install it.  But you have to make sure that you configure your web server to serve the directory.  It should really be installed where ever web files are housed.

On windows under IIS this is typically /inetpub/wwwroot/
Under Apache this is typically /var/www/

These locations can of course change based on the custom configuration of the web server and flavor of OS.
  • Good to know, good to know. Thanks once again for your insight, Neil.
