[resolved] Script not seeing the upgrade error 500

Hi guys

I am upgrading to 1.10 and can't get back in to run the upgrade script getting error 500.

My hoster runs the latest software on its databases.

I only uploaded the files in the upload folder and put them into the correct folder in the ftp.

    I have no way of knowing how you log into your web server.
    Some common options are: CPanel, SSH, Telnet, FTP/sFTP, RDP, VNC,

    Next question what does that mean?  Something I can do or does my hoster have to do it?

    That image shows a lot of information... but the version of PHP that you are running is not one of them.

    ok sorry I suffer with ME/CFS and at the moment the brain is rather fogged....

    Just checked they run 5.3

    Then you cannot upgrade to 1.10.  
    I think that starting with 1.9 PHP 5.4 is required.
    I use 5.6 which seems the most stable to me.
    1.10 also introduces PHP7 support.

    Can you talk to your host and see about getting PHP5.6?

    I can change it to 5.4 or 5.5 :)

    Boy learning more and more here... love it!

    Now if I do change it what will happen? or should I ask my hoster?

    A lot of web hosts have multiple versions of PHP available to the end user, and allows them to toggle between them at some point.  This is usually done in a web control panel and usually just alters the back end configuration to determine which version to use.  I would say try changing to 5.5.  Then go back to the page and see what happens.

    I dont know that it would be an immediate change... you might want to ask their tech support how long it takes.
    (I've also never run PHP 5.5, IO went from 5.3 to 5.6, and my next jump will be to 7 probably next year)

    They came back to me and changed my .htaccess file so I can no use 5.6 and it is up and running... :) :)

    Just can't find this...

    Please take a minute to delete setup/install directory (../setup/) for security reasons.

    there is no directory just an install.php... is that what they are talking about?
