Install / Configure mail piping - mail ingeration

Hi all,

just want find out what kind of options we have to use full integrated mailing within our tickets in osticket system,
not sure if i understand completly the piping options / idea.

We have an email provider, that offers us only to send/forward mails to an mailadress.
So they could forward mails at itsupport@company.com to myprivateadress@gmail.com
(It is not possible to get an independent imap mailaccount as system / proxy account and use in osticket system)

But to use the option of remote piping, as i understand, the email provider needs to send/forward
mails directly to the osticket api via http not to an mailadress?
Or is it possible to send/forward mails at itsupport@company.com to our osticket server as local maildomain, like itsupport@osticketserver.company.com,
receiving mails on this system with sendmail, and forwarding them directly to the osticket system?

Actual we are using the actual osticket version:

osTicket Version v1.10 (901e5ea)
Up to date
Web Server Software Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu)
MySQL Version 5.5.57
PHP Version 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.22

  • You would want to read the wiki for Email Piping.  It's here:
    http://osticket.com/wiki/Email_settings#Email_Piping

A: That is my understanding yes.  This would be remote piping.

A: This sounds like local piping.
