Attachment option help?

i installed osticket successfully...everything works fine, except the attachment file area. i setup a new folder called "attachments" and i made it 777 so its writable, but i get an error everytime i put in /attachments for the upload folder... it says need valid and writable file...but it is valid and writable... any ideas or documentation on this?
