Default Spiceworks Import

Hi, I am new to this forum and have done a search but not able to find any appropriate information.

At the request of our IT support company we started to use Spiceworks for our Helpdesk. However, this is now proving to be a bad mistake because it is installed on our server and therefore if there problems with either the network or the server I am not able to use the helpdesk system.

I am therefore looking to install osticket on our web hosting server.

I am asking if there is any way to import the tickets from our spiceworks install.

Many thanks.

If the network is down, how will you access an external web host?

Very unlikely that a reliable web host will have their network done. If you mean the office network then I was referring to the server that spiceworks is installed on. It would be very unlucky indeed to lose internet and server at the same time.

Besides most engineers have mobile phones, plus we also have two further backup internet lines.

I am just thinking that the support with spiceworks is far better than here it appears as this is a competitor product so to speak but no import facility.

Is it possible to import ticket data from SpiceWorks to OSTicket? Sure.

Is it for the faint of heart or unskilled in PHP/MySQL admin? No

You would have to familiarize yourself with the MySQL tables of each project and create a custom script to move the data from one DB to the other. I do not know of anyone who has written a script that does this currently, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't find someone else that has.

Sorry for not replying earlier, I seldom ever look at the general discussion area.

I thought it had to be possible.

To be honest though I will probably have to stick with spiceworks as unable to get OST to authenticate with Exchange 2010 to pull in the email.

There are a couple posts on that subject (and 2008) in the forums. You could probably read them and get it running.
