Advice (outwith ost)

Hi all,

Don't worry not looking for relationship advice!!

Could anyone give me some pointers on currently available os software or even how to get started coding a database inventory for servers with a web front end. Basically when staff get a call they can query a unique reference and the system will pull back data about the machine and if it is supported?
